Jericho Children Municipal Council

The idea of establishing the Children City Council came out of the necessity of taking care of children, leading them and to make sure they are well-connected to the surrounding society.

The Mission:
Raising up an educated generation that has the sense of responsibility toward their own society and home country.

The Children City Council Formation consists of:
- General Assembly: It consists of all six grade students in Jericho City.
- Board of consultation: It consists of the first high level grades of each six grade of each school
in Jericho City.
- City Council: Consists of 15 students elected by the General assembly each year.

Conditional membership of the city council
1) Must be a member of the general assembly.
2) Must be one of the first ten high level grades at his own class.
3) Must have a good reputation and an excellent behaving record.

Children City Council period:

It is a one-year period starts upon taking over duties after the election process with no possibility of extension or double election for one city council.

Duties of Children City Council :

- Educational and Social activities.
- Sport activities.
- Gardening and beautification of schools.
- Services for children of special needs.
-Public health.
-Public Relations.

Children City Council aims :

1) Improving sense of responsibility and duty within the children toward their own society.
2) Training children on Self independence, assisting others and taking responsibilities.
3) Develop their patriotism , protect home achievements and its sovereignty.
4) Give the children the chance to express their needs through their own representatives.
5) Developing their own skills and the ability of getting a command role .
6) Instill principles of Democracy and sharing opinions.
7) Increase relations and friendships between Palestinian children and Arab children and
Worldwide children in general.
